Calligraphy

Calligraphy, you may have heard about it. But if you don't know what it is, it is basically art that is related to writing. It is the design and execution of lettering with a broad-tipped instrument, brush, or other writing instrument. Materials commonly used in making calligraphy are brushes, or pens. In this blog I am gonna tell you how to do some basic Korean calligraphy.

First of all, materials. The materials I used are:

  •    Brushes
  •    Canvas
  •    Paint
  •    Pencil

Of course, you can do this on paper, Oslo paper is a good choice (I didn't have any oslo paper lying around so I used a canvas instead) Brushes can be a different size from what I used. The pencil is optional, you can go straight to painting it. (Video is down below). (P.S. sorry about the orientation of the video. I can't place the phone in a landscape orientation, without, falling occasionally.)

 Origami

Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. Modern origami practitioners generally discourage the use of cuts, glue, o
r markings on the paper. Origami folders often use the Japanese word k
irigami to refer to designs which use cuts. (Source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origami)

Materials that you'll need for most origami designs including this dove that we're doing:

Origami paper
(If you don't have any origami paper you can use short bondpaper and convert it to an origami paper size here:https://www.origamiway.com/make-origami-paper.shtml)
I recommend using origami paper as it is much easier to fold. But in the video below I just used a short bondpaper cut to the size of an origami paper since we don't have any origami paper.
Anyways... Watch the vid below for the process. (It is cut into parts because of an upload size limit.)

Anime

You've probably heard about it, but if you don't, here's a definition of Manga in Wikipedia: Manga (UK/ˈmæŋɡə/US/ˈmæŋɡə//ˈmɑːŋɡə/Japanese: 漫画 [maŋga]) are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Most manga conform to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century,[1] though the art form has a long prehistory in earlier Japanese art.[2] The term manga (katakanaマンガhiraganaまんが) is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Outside Japan, the word is typically used to refer to comics originally published in the country.[3]
In Japan, people of all ages read manga. The medium includes works in a broad range of genres: actionadventure, business and commerce, comedydetectivedramahistoricalhorrormysteryromancescience fiction and fantasy, and sports.

In the video below, I am drawing myself in Manga style. It needs a bit of improvement, because drawing people and animals aren't really my thing. I am more used to drawing objects and stuff like cars, ships, houses.

Materials you'll need for this are:
1. Ruler
2. Pencil
3. Eraser
4. Paper
The process is down below, Have fun!

Thank you so much for your time in reading this blog post... And I'll see you next time!
